The Art Museum and the Department of Fine Arts are opening a summer general education course titled “FAAS2100/UGED2316 Life and Arts in Pre-Modern China”, with a theme of “art and culture of late-Ming Jiangnan”. The 3-credit course consists of 3 lectures and a 7-day field trip to the Jiangnan region, where many Ming dynasty artists were active in. During the trip, students would visit the scenic spots represented in Chinese paintings and experience the life mentioned in historical records, which bring them closer to the material and ideational world of the Jiangnan literati and enhance students’ critical understanding of the local communities’ endeavours in preserving cultural heritage.
The course's medium of instruction is Putonghua and Cantonese. Please refer to the Chinese version for more information.
We are deeply grateful to the D.H. Chen Foundation for sponsoring the course.
