The Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is currently presenting the exhibition “Amazing Clay: Masterpieces from the Ceramic Collection of CUHK Art Museum”. Members of the public are welcome to visit.

Following the resounding success of the “Sparkle and Charm: Canton Enamels of the Qing Dynasty” exhibition held at the CUHK Art Museum, the exhibition has embarked on a world tour with Tianjin Museum as the first stop in 2024. Titled “Canton Enamels from Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong”, this outreach exhibition showcases over 180 sets of precious Canton enamels from both the CUHK Art Museum and Tianjin Museum.

This exhibition features over 100 finely selected pieces from the Museum’s collection, from Neolithic pottery to ceramics from the Ming and Qing dynasties, covering a period of over 7,000 years, aiming to provide a comprehensive showcase of the history and cultural significance of Chinese ceramics, offering tangible evidence for university teaching and allowing visitors to gain insights into the development of ancient civilisation and history through the lens of ceramic artefacts.

The Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) presents the exhibition “Celebrating the Year of the Dragon”, which will run from 2 February to 31 July 2024. The exhibition features over 50 objects from the Museum’s collection, including jades, oracle bones, metal, ceramics, stone carvings, textiles, scholars’ stationery and rubbings, exploring the iconography of the dragon in ancient Chinese art against the socio-cultural contexts of different times.

Professor Xu Xiaodong, Associate Director of the Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, passed away on 19 January 2024 at the age of 56. The Art Museum is deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Xu and extends sincere condolences to her family.

The Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) presents the exhibition “When Art Speaks – Treasures of CUHK” to celebrate the University’s 60th anniversary, showcasing 60 treasured artworks to tell the stories of the establishment of the Art Museum; its collections and academic research; and its development and plans to expand with a new wing. Distinguished CUers were invited to learn about selected cultural relics and share their own interpretations in audio recordings.

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the exhibition “When Art Speaks – Treasures of CUHK” will showcase 60 treasured artworks, dating from the Shang dynasty to the near-modern era, including rare imperial porcelain, calligraphy and paintings from Guangdong, and masterpieces by Hong Kong artists.

Featuring 40 precious rubbings of the Song dynasty and other select artworks from the collections of CUHK’s Art Museum and the Palace Museum, the exhibition showcases the history of collection, connoisseurship, research, and aesthetics of ancient rubbings.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Palace Museum jointly present the exhibition “Rare Rubbings of the Song Dynasty” at the Palace Museum’s Hall of Literary Brilliance (Wenhua Dian) from 16 September to 5 November 2023.

With a focus on belt hooks from the De-Neng-Tang Collection, this exhibition presents more than 30 exhibits, following a path less trodden to showcase the casting and decoration of the belt hooks, and shedding light on the extraordinary craftsmanship of belt hooks from early ancient China.
